Eversince my boyfriend saw The Wolf On Wall Street he’s quite the fan of Matthew McConaughey (he mostly loves him because of this scene). I think the guy is absolutely fantastic, both as an actor and as a person, every time he’s at The Graham Norton show I freak out a little, hehe.
Last Sunday we (me and my boyfriend, that is) decided it was time to watch a good film, no bull, no action, no comedy, just something good. After searching for a while, we decided it was a good idea to watch Dallas Buyers Club. I had been wanting to see it for a while, since I heard a lot (A LOT) about it and mr. McConaughey is in it, so zhe boyfriend was happy to watch it too.
I have to say, this film isn’t a happy one. It’s based on the life of Ron Woodroof, an electricien/hustler who gets diagnosed with HIV. The doctors try to help him in a way he doesn’t feel benefits him. Ron travels to Mexico to get a medicin (AZT), but instead gets hospitalized there. He gets treated by a doctor who clearly has a much better view on the medicine needed to treat AIDS and where the estimate of his life span was 30 days in the beginning, he lives for months and months more due to the treatment he receives.
Woodroof decides to take the medicine he got from the Mexican doctor to the U.S. to sell it to people who need it. His idea seems to pay off and he soon starts the Dallas Buyers Club, a club which offers a membership for the medicine.
I wont give anything else away, because I want all of you to go and watch this film! It’s really worth your time, I promise! (If not for the story itself, do it for Jared Leto, who plays a magnificent role in it!)
Have a lovely rest of the day and remember to be awesome!
