You know which moments are the most magnificent for most people? The ones that they remember forever? The ones that made them feel like a million pounds? The little moments. The totally unexpected acts of kindness and love. The note you find on your windshield. The marvellous conversation you have with a stranger on the bus. The flowers you got from your neighbour, just because they made them think of you. The first profound hug you get from a child. Your first kiss. All things that don’t necessarily seem like much before they happen, but when they do there’s a change in the atmosphere. There’s something new and beautiful that’s been created in the Universe. A new connection. A new smile. New happiness.
If a life isn’t lived to be happy, then I don’t get what it’s about. Yes, some live for the arts, but why? Because it makes them feel miserable – or because making something beautiful gives them that pure feeling of proudness, of joy – if only for a short while? And if it’s true that we all ultimately live to be happy, then give making others happy a little thought. And especially think about how easy it is to do so; it really doesn’t need to cost a fortune to put a smile on someone’s face, but it’s most definitely worth one.
“We’re all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing.” ― Charles Bukowski
The thing most people think is that if you do something good, it’s worthless unless it’s really good. And by really good I mean it’s good for a large number of people, because if it’s not about world domination, why even bother at all? I’ll tell you why to bother: because that homeless man on the street only has one human life and your help will enhance it; because that colleague of yours has been having a really rough six months and talking to it over coffee might bring some huge relief, maybe even a solution to all troubles; because that caged animal isn’t supposed to be caged, and you setting it free is you giving it another chance; because your guru’s might also work wonders for someone else, so spreading their love could mean a whole world of change for them. Because you’re human and they’re humans too and we all deserve a life as magnificent as we want it to be.
So by god go spread your love, smile at everyone in the street, talk to that person who seems to need some uplifting words (I don’t care whether you know them or not!), be your crazy, beautiful self and turn the world into a place with more love and joy, because you can.
Fireworks of love,
